Poetry Out Loud

On Thursday, December 7, the final round of the heated 10th grade class poetry recitation competition will take place in the Allen Park Center for the Arts.  For weeks, students have been preparing for this competition in their ELA10 classes.  Students were asked to choose a poem from the online anthology and memorize it.  They have practiced “punching up” words, and also varying their tone of voice in order to match the tone of the speaker of the poem.  This contest is based on the regulations behind “Poetry Out Loud,” a contest put forth by a joint effort from The National Endowment for the Arts and The Poetry Foundation.
