A MESSAGE FROM OFFICER MADRIGAL

Good morning all-
I would like to share some information and a picture of another hot topic right now in high schools everywhere.  It’s a popular e-cigarette system is referred to as “Juul.”  It’s a small flash drive-you may have already seen and not even realize it.  Reports continue to surface that students around the area are utilizing them in the bathrooms, classrooms, and even in the hallways.  The vapor smell resembles that of sweet fruity cloud mist unlike cigarette smoke.
Student’s are getting away with it because the device is discrete and can be hidden quickly.

ALICE Training- Wednesday March 7th

Dear Parents,

As we discussed in our March 1 town hall meeting focusing on the safety and security in our schools, the next step for Allen Park High School is to train students on ALICE procedures.  ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) is a procedure we are adopting to increase our safety and security in the event of a violent intruder situation.  You can learn more about ALICE at https://www.alicetraining.com/.

All students will be informed about ALICE procedures during the afternoon of Wednesday, March 7.  Sergeant Albright of the Allen Park Police will instruct the students in the auditorium.  Once all students have been informed, the next step is to conduct building-wide drills.  We will let you know when drills are conducted.

Thank you for your support as we work together towards the safety and security for our schools.
